About Culver
Culver, Oregon, may not have been the first town I lived in, but it’s the one I’ll always call home. I moved there in 4th grade and stayed until graduating early midway through my senior year. With a population just over 1,700 and a high school of around 250 students, everyone knew everyone. The photo below shows the entrance to Culver High School — the same one I walked through nearly every day for four years. The sense of community there was strong; even though I wasn’t born in Culver, by the time I left, I truly felt like part of one big family.
Landmarks & Local Life
The next image shows a nice overlook of town — most of Culver’s small collection of shops can be seen here, along with the hillside we called “Culver Mountain.” You can spot the big white “C” made of painted rocks that overlooks the town. Local lore says that at one point, Culver held a quirky record for having the most shops lined up on only one side of town. Whether or not that’s true, it fits the charm and character of this small but proud community.
